Law #8 – Protein always stays high on the BestLodging.com Diet – so you lose another ¼ - ¾ pounds more fat per week than a low fat/low protein type diet that many diets push

It takes about 30 % of the total calories in protein to for the body to digest the protein. Carbohydrates only take 8 % of the total calories to digest. With fat, it only takes about 2 % of the total fat calories to store it as fat. The Thermal Effect of food is the amount of calories it takes to digest food.

From the above figures, it follows that a high protein diet will take more calories to digest than a low protein diet. So other diet books are mistaken when they say that it doesn't really matter what percentage of protein, carbs and fat you eat at a particular meal as long as you just take in less calories each day than your body burns to create an energy deficit.

You can actually burn another 1/10 of your BMR off in fat each day on the BestLodging.com Diet. Most diets tell you to assume that 1/10 of your BMR will be the thermal effect of food. The BestLodging.com diet, being high in protein, allows you to assume that the thermal effect of food is 2/10 or 1/5 of your BMR. .

That is one reason why high protein diets will work better than low protein diets that are comprised of the same amount of calories one is allowed to eat.

Diet books that use the diet specifications found on the back of nutrition labels (60% carbs, 10% protein, and 30% fat) will only burn 1/10 BMR per day.
